There have been many comics, TV shows and movies about love potions. Whether a teenage witch was buying one from the other realm or a dopey female character was buying one from a fake fortune teller, you’ve probably seen or read about love potions dozens of times.

Have you ever wondered if they are real? Have you ever thought about how you would use your very own love potion? Who you’d want to secretly slip the love potion to? These are just a few of the questions that spring to mind when we see love potions on the big screen.

What is a love potion exactly?
A love potion is, quite simply, a potion that makes someone fall in love with you. In most scenarios, the potion is used to seduce someone otherwise unattainable. In popular sitcoms, love potions allow the quiet teenage boys to nab the most popular girl in school or allow the geeky girls to date the captain of the football team.

The magic formula that makes men and women fall in love. That’s exactly how love potions are depicted in the media. Often, seemingly magical beings are the ones selling the potions. You know, fortune tellers, witches and warlocks.

Of course, love potions are not real. There is no such thing as a magic formula that makes someone fall in love with you against their will. As unfortunate as it might seem at times, falling in love is not something we can control.

That is not to say that there has been a lack of searching. People have searched far and wide for a real, authentic love potion.
